The Hive Tunnel Explorer Package is deliberately built across that gap.

A full-height Hive box gives older children something to climb and command. Two low deck boxes bring the circuit down within reach of younger legs. A tunnel connects them at ground level for crawlers, while a steel climbing ramp offers an ascent for children ready to take one. Four Accoya planks — flat, wobbly and stepped — link the whole arrangement into a continuous loop that can be entered anywhere and travelled in any direction.

Route planning and executive function — an open circuit with multiple entry points requires a child to choose a path, hold it in mind and follow it through. That is working memory and inhibitory control, practised at speed.

Spatial awareness and navigation — going through the tunnel and coming out somewhere new builds the mental mapping that underpins later mathematical and geographic thinking.
